A Sailing School dedicated to taking young people, aged between 12 and 18 sailing.

Ideal if working towards Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award

We run course for 7 or 14 days, during the Easter and Summer vacations. Suitable both for novices as well as improving sailors with some experience afloat.
A chance for young people to master new skills, grow in confidence, develop teamwork, social skills and gain a nationally recognised sailing certificate.

Accomodation will be on board a spacious sailing yacht, sleeping up to 7 people All students will take a turn at cooking, cleaning up and all types of deck work, as well as receiving ongoing expert instruction on all aspects of sailing. This personal development opportunity is in a structured, and instructional environment.

Black arrow is a 40 foot steel hull yacht, fully equipped with navigation and communications systems, and stocked with the highest quality safety equipment. There is a toilet and washbasin on board.
The yacht – Black Arrow – takes 4 pupils plus one teacher/parent and two sailing staff Members making a ratio of 4:3 i.e. 4 pupils, 3 adults.

Nights are spent on a mooring or in a secure harbour, offering marina shower blocks for toilet and washing facilities.

Black Arrow has a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) with powerful outboard engine.  Great for trips ashore etc.
Crew will need to bring along a sleeping bag and  waterproof footwear in addition to their usual clothes and personal items.  Full joining instructions will be issued prior to each trip.

At the end of the course participants as well as having fun and excitement, will be able to sail competently; hoist and work with sails, have a knowledge of seamanship and be able to use a RIB. The will also have developed teamwork and leadership skills.  A RYA (Royal Yachting Association) competent crew certificate will be issued to all attaining the required standard.
